Reports: Governor to Push for Ethics, Campaign Finance Reform in 2016

After an event in Manhattan yesterday, Gov. Cuomo provided  a preview of his 2016 agenda ethics and campaign finance agenda.

The Times Union and the Daily News report that Gov. Cuomo will make closing the “LLC loophole” part of 2016 legislative agenda.

After the criminal convictions of the former leaders of both houses of the Legislature, the Governor said that he plans to make closing the LLC loophole — which allows limited liability companies to be treated as individuals, rather than as corporations — a priority in 2016.

The Governor said:

“The legislature needs serious and dramatic reform. We have had in recent weeks convictions of senior legislative officials, which I believe are indefensible both literally and metaphorically. The legislature has a lot of work to do to restore the public trust. I think we need an ambitious reform agenda.”
