Report: Groups Opposed to JCOPE’s Proposed Source of Funding Rules

The Wall Street Journal reports that the New York Bankers Association is organizing an effort to oppose rules proposed by the Joint Commission on Public Ethics (JCOPE) that will require trade associations to reveal all of the monies they receive from members (as opposed to the portion of associated dues that are devoted to lobbying).

Read my prior post on the issue here, and on JCOPE’s proposed rules here.

JCOPE’s spokesman did not respond directly to the concerns, saying that he expects the Commissioners to consider all of their comments as part of the rule making process.

The public comment period on the proposed rules runs through October 26th.
