Citizens Union Files Complaint Against Independent Group

According to a post on the Capital Tonight blog, New York City-based good government group Citizens Union said today that it will file a complaint with State Attorney General Eric Schneiderman’s office over the group Common Sense Principles.

Common Sense Principles sent direct mail and established a website that is critical of Democratic Senate candidates Ted O’Brien, George Latimer and Joe Addabbo.

Consumers Union wants groups like Common Sense Principles to register with the Attorney General’s Charities Bureau, which would require some disclosure of who this group is, and where their funding comes from.
