Legislators, Law Firms Challenge Moreland Commission Subpoenas
The subpoenas issued by the Moreland Commission to Investigate Public Corruption seeking information about state lawmakers’ outside income were returnable yesterday.
Lawyers for the Senate Republicans, the Assembly Democrats and the Senate’s Independent Democratic Conference (IDC) filed papers challenging the Moreland Commission’s subpoenas seeking information on outside income of legislators.
Two law firms that employ state lawmakers — Hiscock & Barclay and Harris Beach – are also seeking ought to quash the Commission’s subpoenas. Read their filings here and here.
