JCOPE Commissioners Debate Source of Funding Exemptions, Secrecy
At yesterday’s meeting of the Joint Commission on Public Ethics (JCOPE), Commission members again discussed the issue of exemptions to its “source of funding” regulations, which require some lobbying entities to report who is funding their operations. (Read my prior blog post for some background on the issue.) The most recent issue is how to provide notification to groups whose exemption applications have been rejected.
Commissioners also expressed concerns about how JCOPE is conducting its business. The Commission seems to be struggling with how commissioners and staff interact, and how to prepare proposals for commissioner review and discussion.
