NYC CFB to Meet

The New York City Campaign Finance Board (CFB) holds its next meeting on Thursday, Dec. 11 at its offices in Manhattan.

The meeting agenda is not yet available.

CFB has indicated that it will consider adopting final rules relating to contributions via text message.  Read the CFB’s draft rules here.

Generally, the proposed rules:

• provide that public matching funds cannot be paid until after the contributor pays his or her telephone bill;
• establish record keeping requirements for such contributions (mobile fundraising vendor, the contributor, and the registered user of the mobile device used to make the contribution); and
• require a certification that the contributor is the registered user of the phone and that
  the contribution will be made from his or her personal funds.

If the CFB approves these rules, they will become effective 30 days after publication in the City Record.
