Governor Cuomo Calls for Ethics Reforms in the State of the Address

In his State of the State address yesterday, Governor Cuomo reiterated his call for independent monitoring and enforcement of ethics laws, full disclosure by lawmakers of outside income and clients, and stripping pensions for public officials convicted of a felony for violating the public trust.

These proposals will be part of the Governor’s “Clean Up Albany,” of which the New York Times editorial board approves.

Speaker Silver also expressed his support for ethics reform in his comments, which preceded the Governor’s.
