Benjamin Bodner is a Shareholder and a member of Hinman Straub’s Life Insurance and Health Insurance Departments, focusing his practice mainly on regulatory and corporate matters. With particular expertise in life insurance and health insurance compliance issues, Mr. Bodner brings over twenty years of experience in the insurance industry to the firm’s clients.
Mr. Bodner represents over twenty commercial insurance carriers before the New York State Department of Financial Services, assisting them with the design, filing, and approval process for health insurance, life insurance, and annuity products. He supports insurance carriers, agencies, and individual agents in complying with all aspects of insurance and corporate law and regulation, in addition to assisting with market conduct examinations and disciplinary actions.
Mr. Bodner also represents service contract providers and a national service contract trade association in New York, providing both regulatory and government relations services. Mr. Bodner recently leveraged his prior experience in Hinman Straub’s Government Relations/Lobbying practice to secure several legislative changes benefitting service contract providers in New York.
Mr. Bodner’s practice also encompasses the management of corporate workplace and employment matters, from counseling on general business matters including employer/employee relationships, to representing both employers and employees before regulatory agencies including the Justice Center for the Protection of People with Special Needs. Mr. Bodner develops both proactive and reactive strategies for employers and employees, maximizing results while minimizing costs and exposures.
Mr. Bodner is originally from Albany, NY. In his spare time, Mr. Bodner is an avid woodworker who builds furniture using hybrid woodworking techniques.
