SBOE’s Independent Enforcement Unit Begins Work Today
The Daily News reports that the new Independent Enforcement Unit at the State Board of Elections (SBOE) is now up and running. (Read my earlier blog post about the new office, and its enabling legislation, here.)
In addition to Risa Sugarman, who was appointed by Gov. Cuomo and approved by both houses of the Legislature to serve as the Chief Enforcement Counsel, the office will include three investigators, three lawyers and two support staff.
This is also of interest – according to a spokesperson, the new unit will be “walled off” in a secure area from the rest of the Board of Elections.
As of this writing, there is nothing on the SBOE web site regarding the new Independent Enforcement Unit.
