SBOE Publishes “Winding Down the Campaign”
As they have done in prior years, the State Board of Elections has published a summary of provisions relating to winding down a political campaign and terminating a committee.
It reminds campaign treasurers that their filing obligation continues until the campaign committee is terminated with the Board, and that treasurers are required to send us all campaign materials at the same time the post-election report is filed.
In order to terminate, campaign committee treasurers must take the following steps before they can request termination. From the Board:
- All required campaign financial disclosure reports must have been filed;
- The committee cannot have any outstanding loans or liabilities;
- The committee’s bank account must have an ending cash balance of $0; and
- A CF-18 should be filed in conjunction with the filing of the committee’s final campaign financial disclosure report.
