Corporate Political Activity Blog: Guest Blogger #2
The Corporate Political Activity blog has posted the second of four guest posts on campaign finance reform in New York.
This post is from Professor Joel Gora of Brooklyn Law School, who served as ACLU counsel in a number of major campaign finance cases.
Using his ACLU experience as a guide, he takes a First Amendment-driven “the more speech, the better” approach, recommending high campaign contributions limits; “smarter” disclosure that focuses on large donors; and a “floors without ceilings” system of public funding.
It’s an interesting read that defies some expectations.
