Governor Cuomo on the Road
Governor Cuomo launched his “People First” campaign in Central New York this afternoon to “deliver his message of reform directly to New Yorkers.” The Governor also launched a web site promoting his top legislative priorities.
One of those priorities is ethics reform, which includes:
- Requiring disclosure of clients doing business with the state that are represented by legislators before the state, and what they get paid.
- Creating an independent oversight and ethics enforcement body.
- Requiring lobbyists to disclose any business relationship with legislators that exceeds $1,000.
- Strip public officials convicted of public corruption felony of their pension.
According to a New York Times report, the Governor’s rhetoric got very heated at this afternoon’s event when his remarks turned to legislative ethics.
