NYC CFB to Vote on Final Rules to Require Disclosure of Independent Expenditures
The New York City Campaign Finance Board (CFB) holds its next public meeting at 10 am this morning at their offices in lower Manhattan. The meeting agenda is here.
The new rules, if adopted, will require the reporting of independent expenditures (expenditures that are not on behalf of or authorized by a candidate) by individuals, organizations, corporations and other entities in NYC elections.
You can read the CFB’s Notice of Final Rules, and read my prior post on this issue.
The New York State Board of Elections has also proposed independent expenditure rules, raising the possibility that for elections in New York City there will be two reporting requirements and sets of standards.
