Push Is On for Public Financing of Political Campaigns
The New York Times is reporting that Public Campaign Action Fund, a national non-profit organization (funded in part by labor organizations) that supports public financing of political campaigns, is launching a $1 million ad campaign to promote the issue, which Gov. Cuomo has included as part of his 2014-15 Executive Budget proposal.
Watch the 30-second television ad here; it will be broadcast on cable in and around New York City, and on broadcast networks in Albany and Buffalo. The group will also advertise on the Internet and on mobile devices.
Also, over the weekend Moreland Commission Co-Chair William Fitzpatrick and former Moreland Commission Co-Chair Kathleen Rice published an editorial in the Daily News arguing in support of public financing of campaigns.
