Report: Liu Sues NYC CFB Over Denial of Matching Funds
The Daily News is reporting that New York City Comptroller John Liu will sue the New York City Campaign Finance Board (NYC CFB) for denying him public funds in his bid for Mayor.
(Read my prior blog post on this – second paragraph.)
On August 5th, CFB denied Liu’s request for $3.5 million in public matching funds for his mayoral campaign, citing the conviction of two Liu fundraisers for violating campaign finance laws. (Read NYC CFB’s report on the matter here.)
Liu finished a distant fourth in the city’s September mayoral primary, and many observers feel that his weak showing was due to his lack of matching public funds.
No link to Liu’s legal papers yet.
