Reports: US Attorney Continues Investigations Begun by the Moreland Commission
The New York Times reports that federal agents investigating the closing of the Moreland Commission to Investigate Public Corruption have subpoenaed the assistant to the Commission’s executive director to testify before a grand jury.
The Times Union reports that U.S. Attorney Preet Bharara is examining numerous payments made by State Senator George Maziarz’s campaign committee – some to the family of the committee’s treasurer, and others made out to cash. Senator Maziarz recently announced that he is not running for re-election this fall.
