US Attorney: More Needs to be Done to Root Out Corruption in New York
In a speech this morning before the Citizens Crime Commission in New York City, U.S. Attorney Preet Bharara said that effectively addressing corruption in the state will require more than just the effort of the U.S. Attorney’s Office.
He listed some of the state and local public officials who have been convicted of corruption in the recent past, and noted that allowing lawmakers to “lawfully moonlight” poses a challenge to prosecutors because it provides a legal way to hide “the money trails.”
