Benjamin Bodner is a principal in Hinman Straub’s Life Insurance and Health Insurance departments, focusing his practice mainly on regulatory matters. Mr. Bodner represents numerous commercial insurance carriers before the New York State Department of Financial Services, assisting them with the design, filing and approval process for health insurance, life insurance and annuity products. He also aids insurance carriers, insurance agencies and individual agents in complying with all aspects of insurance and corporate law and regulation. In addition, Mr. Bodner has experience in Hinman Straub’s Government Relations/Lobbying practice, where he focused on health legislative analysis and notable legislative, regulatory and policy developments.
Mr. Bodner’s practice also encompasses the management of corporate workplace and employment matters, from counseling on general business matters including employer/employee relationships, to representing both employers and employees before regulatory agencies including the Justice Center for the Protection of People with Special Needs. Mr. Bodner develops both proactive and reactive strategies for employers and employees, maximizing results while minimizing costs and exposures.
Prior to joining Hinman Straub, Mr. Bodner worked in various sectors of the insurance industry. Mr. Bodner attended Colgate University, where he received a Bachelor of Arts degree in philosophy, and Albany Law School, where he graduated cum laude and served as a senior editor on the school’s Law Review.
