Christopher Chase is a principal at Hinman Straub and a member of the firm’s Health Law department. His practice encompasses a wide array of health regulatory matters relevant to regulated entities, including fraud, waste and abuse, compliance program review, privacy and confidentiality, licensure applications, provider contracting, billing and enrollment dispute appeals, and audit preparation and defense, with a major focus on Medicare, Medicaid, and Child Health Plus programs.

Prior to joining the firm, Mr. Chase worked at the New York State Department of Health (DOH) for 10 years, where he advised executive staff and the Governor’s Office on a wide range of issues relating to the Medicaid program, including managed care, PACE, long term care, home care, waiver programs, eligibility, litigation, and labor-related matters. In addition to regulatory counselling DOH program staff, he frequently interfaced with colleagues from across many state and local agencies (including OMIG, OAG, OMH, OASAS, OPWDD, OCFS, OTDA, OGS, HRA, DSS, DOCCS, and DOL) and participated in the State’s budget process—drafting statutory language, advocating for agency priorities, and assisting in negotiations with the State Senate and Assembly.

Mr. Chase received his B.A., cum laude, and J.D. from the University of Houston.
