Estibaliz Alonso is a member of the Firm’s Government Relations department specializing in health care. Prior to joining Hinman Straub, Ms. Alonso served as the Assistant Commissioner for the Office of Governmental and External Affairs at the New York State Department of Health. In this capacity, she coordinated the Department’s legislative agenda and government relations activities, including developing, reviewing and negotiating legislation and budget initiatives relevant to the Department, and served as liaison between the Department, the Legislature, Governor’s Office, and federal and local legislators.
Before joining the Department, Ms. Alonso worked for the New York State Assembly as a senior legislative analyst for the Committee on Health for almost a decade. In her role, Ms. Alonso assisted with the review and drafting of health related legislation as well as with the development and negotiation of budget initiatives on behalf of the Assembly Majority. She also supported Assembly Majority Members with legislative activities including committee meetings, development of legislation, public hearings, and floor debate.
