Katy Coleman is a member of the Firm’s Health Law and Government Relations departments.

Ms. Coleman formerly represented clients in the health care, technology, and cannabis industries before the New York State Legislature and Executive Branch. In this capacity, Ms. Coleman participated in successful negotiations to secure the statewide authorization of ride sharing, as well as numerous expansions to the State Medical Marijuana program.

Ms. Coleman has also worked as the Director of Research and Legislation for an association representing the interests of 500 member healthcare providers, and as an attorney in private practice with a focus on advising healthcare clients. Additionally, Ms. Coleman served as assistant counsel to the Senate Majority Counsel’s health team. In this role, she reviewed and drafted health-related bills; assisted in negotiations of the State’s annual health and mental hygiene budget; and focused on legislation pertaining to the legalization of medical cannabis, establishment of the State’s prescription monitoring program, and creation of the Justice Center for the Protection of People with Special Needs.
