Nicholas Anyaegbunam is a member of the firm’s Litigation and Labor & Employment departments. His work involves drafting motions to dismiss and conducting in-depth legal research on complex issues, including matters related to Article 78 proceedings.
Before joining Hinman Straub, Nicholas gained valuable judicial experience as an extern in both the Eastern and Northern Districts of New York. He worked under Magistrate Judge Marcia M. Henry in the Eastern District of New York and Chief U.S. District Judge Brenda K. Sannes in the Northern District of New York. These roles provided him with a deep understanding of how civil complaints and motions in limine are evaluated and decided, as well as insight into the litigation process.
Nicholas is originally from Niskayuna, New York. Outside of his legal practice, he serves as an Assistant Varsity Basketball Coach at the Albany Academies, where he helped lead the team to a state championship title.
Among his achievements, Nicholas was awarded the Emil M. Rossi L’72 Scholarship by Syracuse College of Law’s Travis H.D. Lewin Advocacy Honor Society in 2023. He also won the Constance Baker Motley Mock Trial Competition during the 2022-2023 academic year and advanced to compete in the National Black Law Students Association’s Trial Competition in Washington, D.C.
