The Governor’s bill would establish a new class of public corruption crimes; increase penalties for existing public corruption offenses; revise other provisions of law to make it easier for prosecutors to successfully prosecute public corruption offenses; and impose expansive post-conviction restrictions on persons convicted of public corruption (and in some cases the entities they work for or hold a leadership role in) getting state contracts or tax breaks, serving as a public employee and working as a lobbyist.
