JCOPE Posts Instructions on Reporting Sources of Funding

A new Joint Commission on Public Ethics (JCOPE) website post alerts lobbyists and clients that the Commission is in the process of developing rules, guidelines and forms to enable them to comply with the new source of funding disclosure requirement added to the Lobbying Act in 2011 [see Legislative Law §§1-h (c)(4) and 1-j (c)(4)].

The crux of JCOPE’s direction is:

Lobbyists and clients potentially subject to the new disclosure requirements should continue to maintain their internal records to be able to meet the new requirements once the regulations are in place. Notice will be sent when the forms and instructions are available.
