JCOPE to Hold Public Hearing on New Disclosure Mandates

The Joint Commission on Public Ethics (JCOPE) will be holding a public hearing in Albany on June 7th “for the development of guidelines and regulations relating to new disclosure requirements for lobbyists and clients of lobbyists pursuant to The Public Integrity Reform Act of 2011.”

JCOPE recently requested written comments on these two issues.

The 2011 amendments require disclosure by lobbyists and clients of any “reportable business relationship” with a public official, and (effective June 1, 2012) “disclosure by certain lobbyists and clients of each source of funding in excess of $5,000 that was used to fund lobbying activities.”
