NYC Campaign Finance Disclosure Law Likely to Face Challenge
City Hall News reports that the city’s Central Labor Council is may bring a legal challenge to the city law, approved by voters last November, that require unions and other outside interest groups to disclose all independent campaign spending.
As the article points out, the new law will require unions to report every dollar spent advocating for or against candidates — from paid canvassers to campaign mailers to political consultants.
The Campaign Finance Board has not yet issued rules implementing the new law, but is preparing to do so.
