NYPIRG’s Horner: “Ethics Reform is Still Needed”
In a guest commentary on WAMC, an Albany-area public radio station, NYPIRG Legislative Director Blair Horner calls on the governor to overhaul state ethics oversight this session (as he promised to do during his 2010 election campaign) by “establish[ing] an independent State ethics commission with robust enforcement powers.”
Mr. Horner notes that if he does not, Gov. Cuomo may leave himself open to political attacks in his coming re-election effort.
He also notes that late last week, GOP candidate Rob Astorino called the Capitol ‘a cesspool’ when he swung through Albany.
