Ethics Reform Bill Released
The final version of Governor’s Program Bill #9, the Public Integrity Reform Act, has been released to the public. Get the bill and the sponsor’s memo.
I will update with bill numbers, sponsors, etc., when available.
A quick read reveals that the 5-part bill is broken down as follows:
- Part A – creates JCOPE; relates to ethics enforcement and financial disclosure requirements;
- Part B – requires lobbyists to disclose the sources of their funding under certain circumstances;
- Part C – pension forfeiture for public officials convicted of public corruption offenses;
- Part D – addresses the gift ban relating to legislative receptions, and modifies the definition of lobbying; and
- Part E – enforcement of the campaign finance laws.
