NY Times Calls for Cuomo to Empower Attorney General to Investigate Public Corruption

The New York Times editorial board calls on Governor-election Cuomo to give the Attorney General the authority to subpoena and investigate potential civil and criminal violations in government under Executive Law 63(8).

That section authorizes the AG to”inquire into matters concerning the public peace, public safety and public justice” at the Governor’s direction.

According to a recent article in The Capitol, Governor-elect Cuomo seems hesitant to give the AG such authority.
