IG Report Criticizes Battery Park City Authority for “Extravagant” Spending
The State Inspector General has issued a report which concludes that the Battery Park City Authority (BPCA) wasted over $300,000 between 2005 and 2008. Between 2005 and 2008, the Authority spent almost $163,000 for “Travel and Entertainment” expenses and more than $184,000 on parties, picnics, and acknowledgements.
The IG shared a preliminary version of the report with the BPCA in January 2010, and the report also finds that a subsequent leadership change resulted in substantial reform of the Authority’s spending policies.
