HINMAN STRAUB ANNOUNCES NEW ADDITIONS TO ITS TEAM

Elena DeFio Kean to Lead Labor and Employment Practice;

Matthew Minniefield to Focus on Corporate, Business and Financial Matters

Hinman Straub, the Albany based law firm, founded in 1932, today announced Elena DeFio Kean has joined the firm and will help lead its labor and employment practice; and Matthew Minniefield, will join the firm as an associate.

Elena DeFio Kean Brings Additional Depth and Experience to Hinman Straub

DeFio Kean is an experienced and well-respected member of the bar with more than 25 years of experience in federal, state and appellate Courts handling matters ranging from discrimination and harassment to disciplinary matters to claims of retaliation to excessive force.  Most recently, she was a principal at DeFio Kean, PLLC specializing in labor, employment and municipal law.

DeFio Kean previously was a partner with Towne, Ryan & Partners; and Towne, Bartkowski & DeFio Kean and Partners; and an associate with Roemer Wallens & Mineaux, LLP and Roemer & Featherstonhaugh. She additionally served as an Adjunct Profession of Business at the College of St. Rose. She is a past president of the Albany County Bar Association and continues serving as co-chair of its Court of Appeals Judicial Screening Committee. 

Minniefield Makes Move to Private Practice After Clerking on State’s Highest Court

Hinman Straub also announced Matthew E. Minniefield has joined the firm as an Associate. He is a graduate from Western New England University School of Law, and most recently, served for two years as a Senior Court Attorney with the Court of Appeals.

“Matt’s strong work ethic and talents honed at the Court of Appeals will be a welcome addition to the firm. He will join a team of highly regarded professionals who continue to provide excellent legal representation in corporate, business, real estate and finance law,” Doolan said.
