JCOPE Fines Lobbying Firm for Incomplete, Inaccurate Filings

Yesterday, the Joint Commission on Public Ethics (JCOPE) announced that has imposed a $20,000 fine on Mercury Public Affairs for “failing to file and for submitting incomplete and inaccurate filings in 2011 and 2012.”

The fine was imposed through a settlement.  The company blamed a former employee for the erroneous filings, and said that it has since amended its filings.

According to JCOPE, the fine is the largest ever for this type of violation.
