Moreland Monday? (Updated)

According to a news report, the Moreland Commission to Investigate Public Corruption’s commissioners plan to vote this morning on whether to approve the final draft of its preliminary report, which will call for an optional system of publicly-financed political campaigns.  (The Governor’s Executive Order creating the Commission set a Dec. 1 deadline, but that fell on a Sunday.)

Update:  According to this State of Politics report, the Commissioners are meeting right now via conference call,  but it is not clear when their report will be released.

The Daily News reports – and Cuomo aides deny — that aides the Governor are working against the inclusion of a publicly-financed campaign

On the editorial side, the Buffalo News wants state lawmakers to be more forthcoming with their outside activities, while the Times Union’s editorial board tells the Governor that “It’s reform time.”

Also, former Assemblyman Richard Brodsky offers his recommendations for “a hard-edged agenda that identifies real problems and sets forth real solutions,” and Newsday columnist Joyce Brown wants the Commission to upend the status quo.
