JCOPE logoPolitico New York’s Bill Mahoney provides a preview of tomorrow’s public hearing of the New York Ethics Review Commission. The Commission is reviewing the activities and performance of the New York State Joint Commission on Public Ethics (JCOPE) and the Legislative Ethics Commission.

The article predicts that the review commission, which is meeting in New York City tomorrow, will look at lawmakers’ financial disclosure forms (including whether JCOPE is adequately reviewing such forms); whether JCOPE’s enforcement authority is adequate, and has been appropriately utilized; and the need for expanding JCOPE’s oversight of lobbying activities to include advocacy that does not fall within the definition of lobbying.
